QSL CARDS IN THE 3905 CENTURY CLUB

(Note: For specific Bureau information, see links at the bottom of  page.)

QSL Cards are the lifeblood of the Century Club.  One - in fact about the only one - condition that we place on people's participation in our nets is their willingness and commitment to QSL all contacts.  And we even make that easy to do for contacts made on our nets.

The 3905 Century Club, Inc. operates its own free QSL Bureau's and you do not have to be a member of the club to use them. The only requirements to use the bureau's are that you ensure that you have S.A.S.E.S (Self Addressed STAMPED envelopes) in the bureau's at all times and you plan to use them. You should probably start out by sending in 6 - 10 envelopes and they should be business size # 10 (4 1/8" x 9.5").

The first batch you send should really be a minimum of 10 envelopes if you made several contacts, along with the cards you send to the bureau for distribution. You can expect the QSL Bureau Manager to usually send 6 to 9 cards back to you in each of your S.A.S.E.S If you are just starting in the bureau and you had 27 contacts that you are sending cards in for, you should send along 6 S.A.S.E.S. Three of the S.A.S.E.S will take care of returning your cards for those first contacts and you will have 3 on file in the bureau for any future cards to be sent to you before you send in more cards and envelopes to take care of them.

When sending your cards to the Bureaus be sure they are fully filled out with all the information from the contact including both signal reports. If you worked a mobile be sure to include the state in which they were mobile - most mobiles do not log.

I usually send in 6 or 7 cards and one SASE every time I send cards to the bureau and this keeps me up to date all the time for contacts I make on the net. Believe me, myself and many other users feel this is the cheapest and easiest way to go. I don't have to look up addresses or put out all the expense of mailing each card individually.

Some people, in starting out, are hesitant in using the bureau's because of their experience with the ARRL Bureau, which is very slow, though a good operation. You cannot expect to get your DX cards very quick in using the ARRL Bureau. Some of the bureau's around the world only make one mailing to the other bureau's each year.  The Century Club Bureaus are fast and mailings occur every day.

IF YOU WANT TO SAVE TIME AND MONEY and plan to check into the 3905 Century Club, Inc. nets from time to time this is really the only way to go.
