DX QSL BUREAU

Ron is Manager of the DX QSL Bureau. If you have any questions about the operations or policies of the DX QSL Bureau, please contact Ron directly.
The way the DX Bureau operates is fairly simple. If you work a DX station, as defined under Century Club rules, you may send cards for contacts made using your personal call sign to the DX Bureau and the DX Bureau will obtain a card from the DX station for that contact, delivering it to you at either our 40M or 75M bureau… so you must be good in our domestic QSL bureau(s) for the nets you operate in order to use the DX Bureau.
Note that DX stations have the option to either use the DX Bureau service, or may maintain envelopes in the other two bureaus. You should check the Good in the Bureau listings before mailing cards to the DX Bureau for DX contacts. DX stations and DX members should contact the DX QSL Bureau Manager directly regarding their choice of arrangements.
Another exception… a few DX stations already have identified a QSL manager in the States. That routing and service will not change unless either the individual QSL manager or DX station makes the change. If a DX station chooses to use a QSL manager other than our DX Bureau for 3905CC contacts, then you will need to send QSLs directly thru that chosen QSL manager and meet his terms and conditions for obtaining a return QSL.
The long and short of it is that when QSLing those DX stations that choose to use our DX QSL Bureau for CCN contacts, and many do, our DX Bureau saves you considerable time, effort and expense you'd otherwise experience to obtain DX QSLs if handled one by one yourself.
This service is good for all DX contacts made after December 31st, 2002.
The 3905 Century Club defines DX as, "any entity listed in the ARRL DXCC Entities List except the 50 states of the United States and the District of Columbia. Stations on boats and planes operating legally within the 12-mile territorial limits of a DX entity as previously defined are considered to be DX operating from that entity."
In the interest of managing rapidly ballooning DX Bureau expenses, the DX Bureau will no longer handle the following types of cards…
- Cards for club calls where the club is NCN (No Card Needed)
- Many DX stations do not understand our use of club stations so most of the club cards sent to them are returned as "not in the log." This represents a significant wasted expense. If your club is working toward 3905CC awards and needs a card from the DX station for that reason, then be absolutely sure that the DX station works your club call separately from your personal call before sending a club card and expecting a return QSL. If the DX station did not work your club call explicitly, separate from your personal call, that club contact will most likely not be in the DX station's log.
- Cards for special event (1x1) calls
- Working toward awards for 1x1 calls is essentially pointless so QSLs from DX stations will not be obtainable thru the DX Bureau for such contacts.
Please don't send SASEs to the DX Bureau. The DX Bureau doesn't have the facilities to store and manage SASEs addressed to individual operators. You will receive QSLs back via the 40M or 75M bureaus.
DX QSL Bureau expenses rose dramatically in 2009! To lessen the severe strain this has placed on the Club Treasury, your generous contributions are needed. Regular, continuing contributions will be needed to assure continuation of the present level of service. Before the DX Bureau, speedy DX cards cost several dollars each to obtain — often more. Those benefitting from this valuable time, effort, and money-saving service are especially asked to make a generous contribution today, and regular sustaining contributions in the future.
