The purpose of this QSL bureau is to have an inexpensive and fast way to exchange QSL cards between Handihams and other members and participants of the nets.

The use of this bureau is open for everyone, as long as the QSLs are for confirmation of contacts made on our nets.  When checking in, Handihams should state that they wish to exchange QSLs via the Handiham QSL Bureau.  Incoming QSLs from the Handiham will be forwarded to the regular QSL Bureaus for distribution.  Most QSL cards from the Handihams will probably be printed and filled out by this bureau, to facilitate the exchange.

Other participants do not have to maintain SASEs with this bureau, since Handiham QSLs will be bulk mailed to the regular bureaus and distributed from there.  Handihams additionally have the option to have the bureau act as their QSL manager, free of any service charge.  They also can have QSL cards made up and printed for an "at cost" price.  Or they can furnish the QSL bureau with their own blank QSL cards.  The only requirement is that Handihams maintain a number of SASEs (Self-Addressed Stamped Envelopes) with the QSL Bureau Manager.  For visually handicapped operators there are special arrangements with the US Postal Service.

For more information and/or for setting up such a service, Handihams may or contact him by US Mail.

You can do an on-line check or download a program to do off-line checks on your own computer on whether a station is Good in the Bureau.  "Good in the Bureau" or "GIB" means a station has sent self-addressed stamped envelopes to our bureau(s).

Please understand that it may take ten days or so after you send SASEs for your bureau status to be reflected in the GIB listing.  Also, your status will not be reflected in posted check-in lists until those posting the lists update the GIB database in their copy of the N7XG Logger program.  It is Club policy that no listing older than 72 hours is to be used to create net check-in listings.  If your status is wrong in a listing posted to the reflector at the same time that it is correct in Rick's GIB List, then you should notify the person who posted the list using an out of date GIB database.  If your status is wrong on a listing you are viewing live with your own copy of N7XG Logger, then not only should the person logging the net be notified that his GIB database is out of date, but you also need to update the GIB listing in your own copy of the N7XG Logger.
